Doulton's ceramic filters are capable of removing more than 99.99% of pathogenic bacteria, particles and disease causing cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia and, as detailed in the user instructions supplied with the product, the outer shell of Doulton ceramic water filters can actually be cleaned in order to prolong the life of the product.

The filters allow the essential minerals beneficial to health to remain in the water and also contain trace elements of silver to inhibit microbiological growth, meaning that there is no need to sterilise them.
